Academics

The past two years the Avalanche Science Program has provided me with a very unique experience. With specialized in-field lessons with industry-leading professionals, countless online assignments, and weeks of classroom time with knowledgable professors, I have gained valuable knowledge and completed specifically designed projects learning how to think about all aspects of snow safety across all platforms. There truly is no other formal avalanche education quite like Colorado Mountain Colleges Avalanche Science Program.

My goal for this page is to give an idea of some of the knowledge I have gained, as well as how far I have come. Starting this program knowing close to nothing about snow safety, I have learned so much in such a short period of time. In the Artifacts section I givesome examples of assignments and projects I have completed. Starting with my literature review paper "Near Crust Faceting in a Dry Alpine Snowpack and the Implications on Avalanches" it is my hope that some of these assignments show some of the knowledge I have gained. Then in the coop work experience section, I talk in more detail about my experience working with NASA on their SnowEx project.
