My name is Dylan Craaybeek. Growing up in Gloucester MA, and frequently spending time at my family cabin in the mountains of Maine, I developed a deep respect and passion for nature and being outdoors. Upon graduating high school I moved to Boulder, CO to study physics and continued pursuing my passion for the outdoors. I left Boulder after studying at the University of Colorado for a year, for financial reasons, and moved to Vail, CO where I began working for Vail resorts. While working at Vail I found my true passion for winter backcountry travel and mountaineering as well as rock climbing. After a few close calls with avalanches, I realized I had to properly educate myself on responsible winter recreation. This was when I discovered the Avalanche Science Program through Colorado Mountain College. Working as a supervisor for Vail Resorts in the winter season and attending school through Colorado Mountain College I have spent 2018-2020 learning invaluable lessons from some of the greatest mentors in the snow and avalanche industry. During the summer seasons, I have been teaching a rock climbing camp for kids in Massachusettes. Throughout these past few years, while continuing my personal mountaineering and winter backcountry career, I have come to the realization that I intend to dedicate myself to practicing and teaching responsible outdoor recreation.
