Coming into this program I can say with certainty that speaking in front of large groups of people was an aspect of the program I was uncomfortable with. My first few presentations for the other students and faculty was close to a disaster with my nervousness of public speaking getting the best of me and my presentation becoming a disaster. Presentation after presentation I practiced and got helpful and productive criticism from my professors and peers and have since normalized speaking to rooms full of people. After presenting dozens of morning forecast briefings, numerous presentations on my academic projects, facilitating group AM and PM meetings, teaching the year 1 students, assisting with AIARE courses, and giving guest presentations with Vail Ski Patrol I have become far more comfortable and confident giving public presentations. I included this page mostly because beginning the program it was something I was nervous about and uncomfortable doing and after two years in the ASP I look forward to sharing my knowledge with groups of interested individuals.
